Buro 24/7, March 2016

There's nothing quite like the fuel-injected hit of a sweet vintage ride. Here, Buro 24/7 asks Noelle Faulkner to round up 24 hot wheels that make up her dream garage.

The cold, hard, steel; the curves; the purr, the speed. The all-consuming love affair between mankind and machine is a dark, albeit, lustful one. Ice cold and scorching hot. It's Steve McQueen among the Porsche 917s and Ferrari 512s in Le Mans, in that emerald Mustang GT in Bullit, or in any film, really. It's Nicolas Cage's all-consuming lust for his beloved Eleanor fastback in Gone in 60 seconds (and THAT scene in the backseat of a stolen Chevelle with Angelina Jolie). It's Ryan Gosling in Drive, Mad Max and his Interceptor, Chris Hemsworth in Rush, Paul Walker (RIP), Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez in The Fast and the Furious and it's that messed-up grind of a serial killer and his accomplice Dodge Charger in Tarantino's Deathproof.

While today's cars still have a certain beauty to them, the new Ferrari GT4Lusso's arched body to Mercedes and Audi's plush, luxury lines, to name a few, you'd be hard pressed to find the same level of pure, heart-racing, heavy-breathing power that comes with the purr of a Lamborghini 350GT, Ferrari Dino or Corvette Stingray C2, on the new car showroom floor.

With the Australian Grand Prix almost upon us, it's hard to ignore that rush of power, heat and burn that comes with a fired-up engine. From the Firebirds to the SL300s, the Testarossas and the 911s; the GTs, V8s, roadsters, coupes and convertibles, forming a definitive list of the sexiest cars, makes, models, editions etc is totally subjective and near impossible, so here's 24 straight off my wishlist, in no speical order. Because speed is sexy.
